"The Guia Lighthouse", one of the Macau landmarks, built in 1864, is seated in "the Guia Fortress" on the Guia Hill (Songshan). It is the oldest lighthouse in China's coastal areas used as navigation for the fishing boats. "The Guia Fortress" has a long history. It was built in 1637 on the top of the Guia Hill, which is the highest point of the Macau Peninsula. In addition to a lighthouse in the fortress, there is a Catholic Church for Holy Mother. In 2005 the fortress was classified as a world heritage by the UNESCO, which is also an attractive tourist destination.
